The Facts about Seatbelt Usage in Wyoming - 2009 Statistics

¤   Observation surveys in Wyoming indicated that nearly one out of three drivers do not buckle up

¤   Non-residents who drive in Wyoming buckle up at a much higher rate than Wyoming resident drivers

¤   Wyoming`s observed seat belt usage of 68% is below the national average of 84%

¤   In 2008 (most recent data available), Wyoming ranked 49th out of 50 for seatbelt usage


¤  Seatbelt usage in Wyoming has decreased during the last two years
  


Wyoming Crash Data - 2009 Statistics

¤   In Wyoming - a crash occurs every 29 minutes, an injury every 1.3 hours and a person is killed every 2 days

¤   62% of crashes occurred during the daylight, 72% occurred during clear weather and 61% occurred on dry roads

¤   There were 133 vehicle related deaths in Wyoming in 2009 - 71% of persons killed were not wearing a seatbelt
